Krissie Zambrano grew up in southern California and graduated with a B.S. in mechanical engineering and a minor in computer science from Columbia University in New York, NY. She worked as a mechanical design engineer for over 10 years and started building her massage therapy business in November 2019. In August 2020 she decided to focus on her massage therapy business full-time.
Krissie is a certified massage therapist who graduated from Green Mountain Massage School in Hyde Park, VT in June 2020, where the curriculum included a wide variety of techniques including Swedish, deep tissue, trigger point therapy, hydrotherapy, hot stones, lymphatic drainage, and Thai massage. Although it is not required in the state of Vermont, she has passed the MBLEx (Massage & Bodywork Licensing Examination). Krissie has also received a certification in ACE massage cupping in May 2021 and a certification in Modern Cupping Therapy in June 2022. In November 2022 Krissie received a Level I certification in IASTM from Hawk Grips (similar to Graston).
Krissie began her massage therapy journey as many people do—recovering from injuries and years of poor posture and lack of self-care, accumulated from a combination of a sedentary lifestyle with a (mostly) desk job and weightlifting without attention to proper recovery methods. After directly experiencing the amazing, therapeutic benefits of massage, she began to study trigger point therapy before deciding to start massage school in August 2019. She is very passionate about promoting therapeutic massage in an effort to relieve pain and reduce stress. Her dedication to troubleshooting and solving problems using an engineering mindset is what sets her apart from others in her field. She is a “massage engineer”, if you will! With a unique background in both a sedentary office life as well as physical activities such as weightlifting, kickboxing, hiking, and dancing, Krissie has a deep understanding of the physical issues that plague modern society.
Why “Tigerfly”, you ask? Krissie has a strong (tiger), but gentle (butterfly) approach to bodywork. She believes that balancing these two skills provides the best combination for effective treatment.
In her free time, Krissie enjoys weightlifting, jiu jitsu, tennis, hiking, dancing, playing with her dog, playing video games, cooking, reading or listening to audio books and learning new things. ^_^
